Today marks the 1 year anniversary of the Dev and Mel Show!
The first show debuted on August 18, 2007 and then we took a LONG break (OK, so nearly a year - ha). We weren't sure if the show would come back after our second show (which aired on August 21, 2007), but it did and we couldn't be happier.
We've done 7 shows and we've had plenty of hiccups, but we take them all in stride and just laugh about them. I think one thing that makes our show so fun is that we don't take ourselves too seriously. We enjoy chatting with each other and bringing the best content to you - our dear, dear listeners and friends.
When we first started, neither of us had ever done radio before. I actually went to college FOR radio to be a broadcaster, but decided that I hated my speaking voice too much! Talk about irony. The idea to do the show came from our phone calls to each other. We realized that if people can have talk radio shows on the internet, who better to do a show then the two of us? If talk radio is all about chemistry and content, well then the writing was pretty much on the wall.
Our most recent show was this Saturday, August 16th. It was Show #7 and my favorite show by far. Every time we do a show, it becomes my most-favorite - I feel like we grow with each squawkfest. Mel had some links she wanted to share with you. They are for the uber-funky King Khan & The Shrines! Check out the King Khan sister project, The King Khan & BBQ Show! I totally think King Khan is the second-coming of James Brown.
Oh, click here to watch the video of Xenia, Ohio's Mr. Unstable taking a bubble bath in the Burger King sink. Sadly, there was no nudity.
We yacked about Madonna and the book her brother wrote about her. I'm officially over Madonna and don't ever want to discuss her again...that is, unless she does something REALLY newsworthy - like DIES!
Speaking of dying, we had to resurrect our segment Death Watch after Bermie Mac and Issac Hayes said Peace Out to living. The world's tallest woman died (not that anyone cares, except for those vying to snatch the world record from her cold, dead paws). Oh, something very sad happened to that is no joke - a young man was killed on a Greyhound bus in Canada, stabbed and decapitated by some crazy passenger. I say: shame on the entire bus filled with cowards that let this pyscho kill a fellow passenger in cold blood. My heart goes out his friends and family and I hope that the man who did this gets what he deserves.
Our next show is going to be Saturday, September 6th at 9 AM (PST)/12 PM (EST)!
Love,
Dev
